225 miles of ultimate whitewater thrills. During 2006 the NPS changed from the waiting list system that had been in place since 1980 to a weighted lottery. Anyone can apply to this lottery but people who have not been on the river recently and those transistioning from the waiting list get extra chances in each lottery. Major lotteries for a couple of hundred available launches are held once a year and mini-lotteries for cancellation trips or unclaimed trips will be held during the year.
